CRANE
The mission of NSWC Crane is to provide acquisition engineering, in-service engineering and technical support for sensors, electronics, electronic warfare and special warfare weapons. NSWC Crane also works to apply component and system-level product and industrial engineering to surface sensors, strategic systems, special warfare devices and electronic warfare systems, as well as to execute other responsibilities as assigned by the Commander, Naval Surface Warfare Center. Located on the third largest naval installation in the world, NSWC Crane’s total focus is to support the Warfighter by leveraging its technical capabilities for the rapidly changing combat environment.
The Battery Innovation Center (BIC)
BIC is a collaborative initiative designed to incorporate leadership from renowned universities, government agencies, and commercial enterprises to focus on the rapid development, testing and commercialization of safe, reliable and lightweight energy storage systems for defense and commercial customers.
The BIC’s mission is to accelerate innovation in the field of battery technology by providing access to the entire spectrum of R&D to commercialization, including low volume production, in a single 40,000 square foot facility. Under one roof and with virtual connections to partners’ research and manufacturing facilities, the BIC will be capable of managing all aspects of the battery life cycle:
– Basic and applied research
– Elementary cell concept
– Cell research and development
– Cell manufacturing
– Electronic control
– Pack systems engineering, testing and certification
– Low volume manufacturing
– Field service and support
WestGate@Crane Technology Park
This defensive industry is adjacent to NSWC Crane and partners with a variety of organizations and businesses such as local and state economic development corporations, NSWC-Crane Division, I-69 Innovation Corridor, Indiana Office of Defense Development, and WorkOne. Real estate and office space is available at WestGate@Crane Tech Park, as well as EastGate Technology & Business Center (Bedford, IN), offering ideal locations for businesses to grow and thrive. WestGate is the state’s only tri-county tech park, encompassing parts of Daviess, Greene, and Martin counties. This unique partnership provides a strong base of local support for the WestGate@Crane Authority, a nine-member board created to develop and manage the tech park.

Their goal is to provide the U.S. military with high quality, dependable support. We have the equipment necessary to carry out depot and field level support.
